About
A little more about me
Before my PhD, I moved through statistics, data science, industry, and NLP engineering. Those experiences continue to shape how I think about language, people, and AI systems.
Education and path to NLP
I earned my bachelor's degree in Statistics from
Rutgers University
and then completed a master's degree in Data Science at
Fordham University
.
At Fordham, I was fortunate to be advised by
Prof. Gary Weiss
and
Prof. Daniel Leeds
on an educational data mining project.
After graduation, I worked as a data scientist at BigOneLab, a
startup in Beijing. I later joined the iFLYTEK Research Institute
as an NLP research engineer on the
text-to-speech team, where I worked on AI systems that
automatically identify and read aloud multi-character novels.
A fuller story of my path into NLP is available in this USC ICT graduate student spotlight.
Outside research
In my leisure time, I enjoy sketching, Chinese brush calligraphy, skiing, and surfing (pretty new, but I love it!!).
